Future Group to invest Rs 150 cr over in cricket

India winning the first T20 Cricket World Cup has immediately resulted in corporates flocking to invest in the game, with Kishore Biyani-promoted Future Group announcing Rs 135-150 crore investment in cricket over the next three years.  The Future Group had already won the title sponsorship for the upcoming India-Australia ODI series.

“We are working to on a three-year plan for cricket and will invest about Rs 135-150 crore during this period,” Future Group CEO Kishore Biyani told media.

He said besides the matches to be played in India, the Group would also pitch in for away matches such as the one India is scheduled to play in the Australian summer.

He said given India’s recent performances during this season, starting with winning the first Future Cup played between India, South Africa and Ireland in Ireland in June-July this year, the Future Group is excited about the popular enthusiasm that is associated with cricket and the Indian team.

As the title partner for the India-Australia series, the group would be associated with the development, branding and promotion of the game.

“We believe that the future of India is the youth and this is a good opportunity for the young players to showcase their talent to the world. Future Group is pleased to be a part of this series which is sure to unearth stars for the future, Biyani added.

The matches will be played in Bangalore, Kochi, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Vadodara, Nagpur and Mumbai from September 29 to October 17.
