JKCA bans Nabi, Mahajan for joining ICL

Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has banned two players from the state including promising young fast bowler Abid Nabi for joining the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL).

The registrations of Nabi and Truv Mahajan, a Jammu-based player, have been cancelled as they have joined the ICL, JKCA General Secretary Saleem Khan said.

He said BCCI has been informed about the decision to cancel the registration of Nabi and Mahajan which renders them ineligible to play in any competition organized by the cricket’s governing body in the country and its affiliates.

Khan said the JKCA has also informed the respective clubs of the two players which will take action against them accordingly.

Nabi, a promising fast bowler, bit the bait and joined the Essel group sponsored ICL last Friday along with 17 other players.

The JKCA officials said they were hopeful that Nabi would become the first player from the state to represent the country as he had the potential to make the mark but his joining the ICL has prolonged the wait of Jammu and Kashmir to produce first international cricketer.
